• 12% of the U.S. population is African American.
• Currently there are more than 90,000 people waiting for the Gift of Life.
  Approximately 50% represent minorities.
• A new name is added to a waiting list every 13 minutes.
• Each day 70 people receive an organ transplant.
• Each day 17 people die because the organ they needed to live was not available.
• One organ donor can save up to 8 lives.
• That same organ donor, through tissue donation, can greatly enhance 70 or more lives.
• At any given moment, 3,300 persons are searching the bone marrow registry.

• Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death. Complications include: blindness, kidney disease,
  heart attack and stroke. All of these complications can lead to the need of an organ or tissue transplant.
• 35% of persons waiting for a kidney transplant are African American.

To register as an organ and tissue donor, you can download a Donor Registration Form HERE. Return the completed and signed form to Second Chance Foundation or the Nevada Donor Network. Your registration form will then be entered into the Nevada Donor Registry.

You can also register as an organ donor at the DMV. However, registering at the DMV does not register you as a tissue donor. You must be registered in the Nevada Donor Registry to be listed as a tissue donor. You can do this by completing a Donor Registration Form.
